The race
A trail running race in August on the Triestine Coast, where the Karst drops into the Adriatic and the border with Slovenia passes through the trenches of the Great War. Five distances, from the 7K for everyone to the 71K Sardon Ultra Stage, on trails crossing sheer cliffs, bilingual villages, pine forests smelling of resin, and a subsoil guarding Roman temples and fossil dinosaurs.
