The race
The LG starts in Lausanne at midnight. The course of this ultra takes you up in altitude to the summits of the Jura massif where you will discover one of the most beautiful views of the Alps and Mont Blanc... an experience you will never forget. The course is divided into 4 distinct and different parts: The beach: You start from Lausanne in the middle of the night and first move along the hidden paths by the lake under the light of your headlamp. Sometimes almost with your feet in the water, the course takes on a seaside feel. You then head inland at Saint-Prex to have fun on the single tracks going up and down along the secret Boiron river. You finally cross the orchards and vineyards of the Côte up to the Signal de Bougy park from where the view of the lake and the Alps at dawn is exceptional. The slopes: After a well-deserved refreshment stop, you set off on a real adventure with the crossing of the dense forests of the Vaud plateau to approach your first difficulty: the ascent of the steep slopes of the Jura massif via Longirod and Saint-George. Arriving at the summit with the rising sun, you are rewarded with an exceptional panorama of the entire Alpine range and Lake Geneva. The magnificent Jura cows still on alpine pasture at this time of year treat you to an impressive concert of bells. Unforgettable! You then feel an indescribable emotion discovering the serenity and beauty of the great high-altitude spaces and the immaculate valleys that gradually lead you to the village of Saint-Cergue located just after the halfway point. The ridges: A real wall awaits you just after the Saint-Cergue refreshment stop with a dry climb directly onto the ski slope. You are cheered on by the villagers who have come in large numbers. This is the most "mountainous" part of the route with 2 mythical summits of the region: the Barillette and the Dôle. On one side, forests as far as the eye can see suggesting the extent of the Jura massif, on the other probably one of the most beautiful mountain panoramas in Europe with a 180° view of the entire Alpine chain from Grenoble to Bern. In the middle, Mont Blanc reigns supreme and watches you. This is the highest point of the race. What follows is a dizzying descent which will delight specialists in negative elevation gain. You then have to climb up to the heights of Divonne-les-Bains (FR) with a border crossing, ascend Mont Mussy before crossing the border again at the Versoix bridge and reaching Chavannes-des-Bois (CH). The hardest part is behind you! The plain: You set off for the last part on a rolling course with the discovery of a real jewel of the Geneva countryside: the Versoix trail. Dynamic and bumpy single track, it is a good part of fun that awaits you despite the fatigue. You even have the chance to glimpse beaches in the forest. After a passage through the meadows where horses, bison and does watch you pass, you gradually enter the town through the parks of Chambésy, the Château de Penthes and the botanical garden. Finally following the lake several hours after leaving it in the night, you cross the finish line in front of the mythical Jet d'Eau of Geneva where you are awaited by your loved ones and our volunteers who applaud the last steps of an incredible adventure. A human and sporting challenge! Celebrate the moment with a nice cold beer and a plate of raclette and throw yourself into the lake for a well-deserved swim at the Pâquis baths.
